South Kingsville kids plant for the planet

SOUTH Kingsville Preschool pupils will do their bit for the environment by taking part in Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day on Monday.

Preschool director Elissa Stafford  said National Tree Day was a great means of raising students’ awareness of sustainability.

The children will plant native trees and shrubs, which are being provided by Bunnings Warehouse Altona.

Each year, about 2500 schools across Australia take part in the schools tree day.

Local groups will run various activities on Sunday. Hobsons Bay council will provide a free barbecue lunch and children’s entertainment from 10am-1pm at Newport Lakes Park. Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek will host a lunch and children’s activities between 10am and 1pm at the Brooklyn Bluestone Bridge.
