Yarraville bikies clubhouse targeted by shooters

HOSTILE bikies have clashed with police after their Yarraville clubhouse was targeted by unknown shooters on Sunday.

Police were called to the Bros Motorcycle Club clubhouse about 12.30am on Sunday, following reports of gunshots at the Campbell Street address.

Officers discovered the clubhouse had been riddled with bullets, with the building’s front door and garage roller-door both bearing multiple bullet holes.

Detective Senior Constable Brett Van Der Vliet told Fairfax Media that nobody was inside the clubhouse at the time of the shooting and no injuries had been reported.

“We don’t know what the motives are behind [the shooting],” Senior Constable Van Der Vliet said.

“We haven’t had any problems with the Bros in Yarraville for a very long time.”

The possibility of the shooting being an attack from a rival motorcycle gang could not be ruled out, Senior Constable Van Der Vliet said.

Tensions were high at clubhouse following the shooting, with police forced to arrest one man after he became aggressive during a press conference on Sunday afternoon.

“There was an incident with a few of the [club] members where they were annoyed and hostile towards us,” Senior Constable Van Der Vliet said.

Senior Constable Van Der Vliet said the club members were hostile for several minutes but did not become violent.

A 27-year-old Truganina man was arrested and is expected to be charged on summons with behaviour offences.

Senior Constable Van Der Vliet said police had no details about the shooters at this stage, but investigators were yet to analyse the CCTV footage of the incident.

The Bros Motorcycle Club last made headlines in May 2011 when police raided the Yarraville clubhouse and seized guns, ammunition and bladed weapons.
