VRU: Footscray Bulldogs’ finals bid stutters

FOOTSCRAY’S position in Victorian Rugby Union premier 1’s top five remains vulnerable after a 25-21 loss to Southern Districts at Henry Turner Reserve on Saturday.

The Bulldogs’ break on the sides out of the five has been cut to a point with three rounds to go.

The run home for the Dogs is tricky, with games against Melbourne (third), Melbourne University (seventh) and Moorabbin (second).

The Bulldogs crossed for tries to Calvin Ah Wong, Ikuna Tukuafu and Joe Masalu, but none were converted.

Keisuke Yamada scored two penalty goals.

The four-point loss broke a run of two wins for the Bulldogs.

The Dogs will have their finals credentials tested when they face title contender Melbourne away on Saturday.
