HOBSONS Bay’s annual program bringing art and culture to the people emerges behind the footlights with a children’s theatre performance in Altona this month.
Emily Eyefinger, based on Duncan Ball’s award-winning children’s series, is the first of numerous events and installations being held as part of the council’s Arts At Your Doorstep program.
Presented by the Helpmann Award-winning Monkey Baa Theatre, the play tells of a girl who struggles with being different after being born with an eye on the end of her finger.
She eventually finds pride in her gift at being able to see around corners, rescue friends, catch dangerous criminals and solve mysteries.
The show will be performed at Altona Theatre on August 20 at 6pm and August 21 at 10am and 1pm.
This year’s program sees the return of the Hobsons Voice school choir for its eighth annual performance.
Conducted by Hobsons Bay’s citizen of the year Doug Heywood, the choir has more than 300 children from eight local primary schools.
It will perform at Williamstown Town Hall on September 8 from 2pm.
