Footscray man faces 17 charges after Yarraville raid

A FOOTSCRAY man has been charged with a series of offences after an outlaw motorcycle gang’s Yarraville clubhouse was raided.

Police searched the Bros Motorcycle Club property last Wednesday, days after shooters left the clubhouse riddled with bullets.

Taskforce Echo police seized goods from the Campbell Street property and charged the 23-year-old Footscray man with 17 offences, including possession of a firearm, controlled weapon and suspected stolen goods as well as assaulting police, resisting arrest and altering a firearm without consent.

He was bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 21.

The Yarraville raid coincides with a number of raids conducted on bikie gang premises around the state as part of Operation Resound, set up in March in response to a feud building between rival gangs.

Police last week seized drugs, firearms and large quantities of money during raids in Ballarat, Balwyn North and Seaford.

Taskforce Echo Detective Inspector Ian Campbell said the raids brought to six the number of guns seized over 10 days.
