A journo journey with own magazine

ASPIRING journalists and photographers, including Kayla Edmiston and Stacey Long (pictured), will launch their own magazine in Footscray next week after graduating from Maribyrnong council’s Hyperjournalism program.

The 16-week program, being run for the first time, included workshops with media professionals on writing and photography as well as producing content for a blog at phoenixyouth.com.au.

Mayor Catherine Cumming said the Hyperjournalism program nurtured the talent of young people and helped them build new skills.

“All the young people involved in this program should be proud of what they have produced,” she said.

“What a thrill for young people to be able to see the fruits of their labour published in their own publication.”

The 6 Degrees magazine launch will take place at Phoenix Youth Centre next Friday from 5pm.
