Big weekend for Footscray to make hockey finals

FOOTSCRAY is a game and goal difference outside Hockey Victoria
men’s premier league top four after a 1-1 draw with second-placed
Greensborough at McIvor Reserve on Saturday.

Justin Ellis scored his seventh goal of the year to earn a share of the points for the Bulldogs.

The final four will be decided during an exciting doubleheader this weekend.

The Bulldogs face second-last Southern United at home on Saturday, followed by Toorak East Malvern away on Sunday.

They will need a bit of luck at other grounds to reach the finals.

Altona is all but safe from relegation after a 3-1 win over cellar dweller Mentone at Mentone Grammar.

In women’s premier league, Footscray offered a minor distraction
to finals bound Greensborough in a 0-0 draw, but relegation-bound Altona
was thrashed 5-1 by league leader Mentone.
