Little Saigon revitalisation plans detailed

MORE retail shops, trees and car parking spaces and extra
on-street parking are on the cards to revitalise Footscray’s Little
Saigon precinct.

The draft Little Saigon activation plan would improve public space
with a new plaza or pocket park on the corner of Byron and Leeds
streets as well as a Footscray Welcome Arch.

The Byron Street streetscape would be upgraded and tree planting would take place across the precinct.

Community stakeholders, including traders, residents and visitors
to the precinct, will be consulted on the proposals, with feedback to be
considered by the council.

Major works are expected to be completed by mid-2016.
