The redevelopment of Footscray Plaza is well under way and more than 130 apartments are already sold.
Designed by JAM Architects and developed by Banco Group, stage one
of the 10-level “18 Albert” development of one- and two-bedroom
apartments was a sell-out, spurring the official stage-2 release of a
further 100 apartments.
Due for completion in September next year, the
redevelopment includes a retail revamp of the existing Coles and Kmart
stores, which were closed in July.
Banco bought the plaza for $20 million in 2010 and plans to expand
retail floor space, open new eateries on Albert Street and reopen with
543 car spaces.
The residential floors will be topped by a vegetable garden.
