Broadcaster and journalist Mike Carlton will launch his book First Victory 1914 at Williamstown library this month.
The book recounts Australia’s historic victory of November 9, 1914, when the cruiser HMAS Sydney encountered the Kaiser’s SMS Emden in the Indian Ocean.
Carlton was an ABC war correspondent in Vietnam in 1967 and 1970 and for three years was bureau chief in Jakarta.
The launch will be held on October 15 at 2pm.
