Veteran all-rounder Craig Sheedy has started the season on fire for Williamstown.
Sheedy backed up his 70 in round one with 99 not out on Saturday to give the Seagulls a fighting chance against reigning premier Melton at MacPherson Park.
The Seagulls produced a competitive 7-207 from their 80 overs.
The second day’s play will be on Saturday.
