ST ALBANS: Student shot in head

A 17-year-old boy was shot near St Albans Secondary College in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The boy, who is believed to be a year 12 student, was struck in the head and the arm with pellets near Percy Street in St Albans shortly after midnight.

It is believed he was among a group of year 12 students walking to the western suburbs school to plan a “muck-up day” prank, when the gunman shot him from the window of a passing car, 3AW reported.

A police spokeswoman said the shots were likely to have been fired from a shotgun.

He was driven to Sunshine Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
