Maribyrnong men take a stand against violence

Maribyrnong men are lending their voices to the campaign to stamp out violence against women.

Mayor Grant Miles says the council will host a morning tea and photo exhibition on Monday in support of White Ribbon Day and building a safe and inclusive city.

“Our ongoing support of White Ribbon Day is an opportunity to take a stand against violence towards women,” he said.

“I strongly encourage everyone in the community to support this critically important issue.”

The morning tea in Footscray Mall from 10am will feature hip-hop group Raw Elements and catering from UCAN café, which supports people with disabilities.

From 4.30-6pm, the PhotoSTOP Violence Against Women exhibition at Phoenix Youth Centre’s Splash Gallery will feature photographs taken by male students at Footscray City and Braybrook Secondary colleges. The photos represent their inter- pretations of respectful relationships.
