LATE-NIGHT SHOPPING

A group of boutique businesses in Yarraville’s West Village is taking part in late-night trading until 8pm every Thursday in the lead-up to Christmas. Shops include Mosey, Invite me, Chalk, Du Fleur, Second Blessing, Pure Passion, Techville, Green Collect, Liquid and Utopia. They have organised a Mr Burger food truck for one evening and are offering a door prize for one shopper. 97 Anderson Street, Yarraville.

HERE’S THE DRUM

Make your own percussion instrument – a Djembe Cajon – built with reclaimed hardwood timber with the assistance of Zimbabwe-born craftsman and music educator Tawanda Gadzikwa. The workshop is on Sunday at Footscray Community Arts Centre. Cost: $175.

FRUIT AND VEGIE SWAPS

There are three Hobsons Bay fruit and vegie swaps over two days: Williamstown library and Altona’s Logan Reserve this Saturday and Newport Lakes this Sunday. Both swaps are from 10.30-11.30am. Share your home produce on the common table, exchange tips with other folk, and take a share of the produce you can use.
