Footscray’s George Munro has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his services to basketball and wrestling organisations.
Munro, 73, has been a wrestling delegate with the state Olympic committee for 12 years and Commonwealth Games committee
for 14.
He was president of Basketball Victoria Country from 1978-81 and has held numerous executive roles with state and national wrestling associations.
Munro is a life member of the Footscray Boat Club and coach of the Redskins Basketball Club at Braybrook. He won an Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
