To watch Michel Roux-trained Matt Forbes at work in his slick 16-seater’s small open kitchen is to observe a pastry chef who sweats the detail.
Since opening Cobb Lane in December, Forbes has quickly won local fans of his doughnuts (the salted caramel set the bar high), exquisite sweets (try the super deluxe cherry-jelly-filled lamingtons) and daily bread offerings.
There’s a concise breakfast and lunch menu, and the crew takes their brews seriously, serving up Clement Coffee’s Pony blend.
