Maribyrnong residents can make a mark on their neighbourhood next month with the return of Australia’s largest volunteer event.
Maribyrnong council’s official Clean Up Australia Day site on Sunday, March 2, is Mappin Reserve, Seddon, but residents can register to help clean up a host of other local sites.
The clean-up will be done from 10am-noon, followed by a free barbecue at Mappin Reserve for volunteers from all sites.
Last year almost 600,000 volunteers at 7341 sites across Australia removed more than 16,000 tonnes of rubbish.
Organisers hope to improve on this amount this year.
Clean Up Australia chairman and founder Ian Kiernan said joining in the clean-up was a great way to meet neighbours and improve local areas.
