laverton school parking to stop

Park-and-ride commuters will be locked out of the defunct Laverton Primary School from March 24. The Epsom Road site has been earmarked for Laverton’s new fire station. Residents whose streets have new parking time-restrictions will have to apply for a permit. Details: 9932 1000

A Laverton North business has received a $250,000 state government grant to increase exports and employ more people. A & J Australia, which manufactures rigid plastic and paper products for the chemical and hospitality industry, will use the grant to buy an injection mould machine.

Laverton woman Ann Marie Kelly and her guide dog Shona will host a story time at Altona library from 10.30am tomorrow. It will be the municipality’s first “access for all abilities” story time this year. Children of all abilities are welcome and will be able to pat Shona.

The Global Women’s Project is working on delivering education and economic opportunities to women and girls in developing communities. Raising funds for a pilot program in Nepal, a $2000 crowd-funding campaign will go towards providing each program graduate with access to tools and equipment.
