Williamstown claimed a big scalp in the VFL on Saturday with a 25-point win against Geelong. In what is arguably the club’s best win since going stand-alone in the off-season, the Seagulls led at every change against one of the competition’s premiership favourites. Up forward, Jake Owen and Scott Clouston were both outstanding and finished the match with five goals each. They were well supported by Kane Lambert and David Fahey. Thomas Maas was named the Cats’ best player. The 18.15 (123)-14.14 (98) victory is Williamstown’s fifth win of the year. The Seagulls are third on the VFL ladder. In other weekend VFL results, Werribee smashed Sandringham, Box Hill proved too good for Richmond, Port Melbourne edged out Essendon and Collingwood had the better of Bendigo.
