Kitchen’s delicious dishes attest to ritzy recipes

Serving healthy, fresh and flavoursome food to eat in or take home is the secret recipe that keeps customers coming back for more at Novel Kitchen in Williamstown.

The Kitchen’s kitchen prepares tasty, nutritious meals daily on-site and caters for varied dietary requirements with a broad selection of gluten-free and vegan options available.

Organic coffee and milk provide the key ingredients for the perfect coffee in the cafe, and quality fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and bread are all sourced from local suppliers.

Many of Novel Kitchen’s meals are available as take-home options, providing customers healthy alternatives to fast-food outlets.

After many years in the corporate world, owner Steve Ferry was concerned there was a void in an industry that once valued simplicities such as customer service and a smile.

“We wanted to try and do a little bit to arrest this,” he said. “Also, as a busy parent I was frustrated by the lack of healthy, flavoursome meals available when we didn’t have the time to cook for ourselves.

“Feeling guilty about fast-food or packet meals from the supermarket made us think there had to be a better alternative.

“Novel Kitchen’s take-home options seemed like the right way to offer convenience and nutrition at an affordable price.”

Chef Lydia Atnasovski’s menu offers an array of sumptuous classics and international specialities.

“Our chicken soup has quite a following,” Ferry said. “It takes two days to make and seems to sell straight away. “We offer a wide variety, from classic shepherd’s pie to Moroccan chicken.” The “vege stack” and truffle mushroom are the most popular vegan and gluten-free dishes. Or why not try a Cuban pork sandwich or eggs rancheros?

The sweet potato and cashew nut burger is a healthy alternative to a fast-food classic, while the warm grilled vegetable salad with crispy kale chips and feta will tempt those seeking a lighter option.

Atnasovski has worked in a number of leading restaurants in Australia and overseas and is also completing a degree in nutritional studies. Fellow chef Ramon Serano has vast experience in top restaurants and on cruise liners, and has worked in the Middle East.
