A new initiative by a Footscray charity is helping households across Maribyrnong while providing young people with valuable training.
Kids Off The Kerb’s white goods recycling program collects unwanted items such as fridges, freezers, washing machines and clothes dryers.
Community partnerships manager Mark Young said donated items were refurbished, broken down for spare parts or recycled as scrap metal.
“There is zero landfill in the process and a range of affordable second-hand white goods stock is created,” he said.
“Funds from the resale of refurbished white goods support Kids Off The Kerb initiatives including training, development and employment opportunities for young people and the Footscray youth support service.”
