FILM: Comic duo in search of a vibe across Werribee, Williamstown

Comedians Damian Callinan and Mickey D are headed for Williamstown and Werribee to film suburban documentaries for their Road Trip shows.

Locals are being invited to fill out a survey with suggestions of where the pair should film during their two-day suburban adventures.

The survey asks: “What is great? What is terrible? What would you like them to explore?”

Asked if it was really possible to film a road trip in just one suburb, Mickey D, aka Michael Dwyer, was enthusiastic.

“Yes, totally! The great thing about

Road Trip is that we are on the hunt for the essence, the characters, the friendly underbelly of our next destination.

“No matter how big or small the town, village or city may be, we aim to capture the local vibe through the eyes of a visitor.

“We then set about playfully celebrating the fine and not so finer points of the area.”

Past explorations have seen the pair don wetsuits and swim in a sewage outlet for a dare and play hide and seek inside barrels at a historic museum.

“We only have 48 hours to build a show, so whatever the town has going we have to interact at all costs,” Dwyer said. He said he had never been to Williamstown, where he and Mickey D will be filming on June 16 and 17.

“I’m fresh meat for Williamstown. I’m happy to take any dares, recommendations and local tips at our FB page: www.facebook.com/roadtripwithmickeyddamiancallinan.”

Road Trip will be screened at Williamstown’s Mechanics Institute on June 18 at 7.30pm and Wyndham Cultural Centre in Werribee on June 21 at 8pm.
