Footscray remains undefeated since the first week of May and sits on top of the VFL ladder. The Bulldogs made it seven straight victories with a 52-point thrashing of Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Sunday. Brett Goodes was best on ground. Key forward Liam Jones booted three goals and tough nut Clay Smith made a successful return from an AC joint injury.

Reigning premier Footscray has conceded more ground to local rival Williamstown in the race for the Lacrosse Victoria men’s state league minor premiership. The second-placed Bulldogs suffered a shock 7-6 loss to Camberwell, while at the same time ladder leader Williamstown was taking care of business in a 12-9 win over Surrey Park.
