Footscray’s Olympic Doughnuts dynasty out of a jam

The humble old caravan may be gone, but for a much-loved Footscray institution the future is looking sweet.

After being relocated courtesy of the Footscray railway station upgrade and the Regional Rail Link project, Olympic Doughnuts now has a permanent new home.

From a kiosk on the Irving Street forecourt, only metres from its original location, Nick Tsiligiris and his team are once again serving fresh, piping hot, sugar-coated, golden brown jam doughnuts, just as they have done since July 1981.

The new premises, which include the iconic dolphin jam dispenser, is the first purpose-built doughnut kiosk at a railway station in Victoria.
