Altona North stalker sought
A man stalked a woman before committing a lewd act next to her in Altona North. The victim ran away and was able to hide in a nearby front yard until her husband arrived; they then notified police. The offender is described as being in his 40s, tall, overweight and with light brown hair and beard. He was wearing white glasses, a green hooded jacket, sandals and thick yellow socks. Driver’s double blunder
A man has been caught driving while over the legal alcohol limit twice within the space of two hours. Police first stopped the 36-year-old man on Ballarat Road, Maidstone about 1am on Tuesday and breath-tested him. Police gave the man’s car keys to a friend who promised to drive him home. The man was then caught driving a Mazda sedan along Ballarat Road and returned a positive blood-alcohol reading. He has lost his licence for two years.
Cops chase Braybrook learner
A Braybrook male learner driver with four children in the car led police on a high-speed chase through the state’s north on July 8. Police say they spotted the car travelling up to 159km/h on the Hume Highway at Chiltern and intercepted it at Barnawartha North. The 26-year-old driver returned a breath test of 0.074. His car was impounded and he will be charged on summons with offences including dangerous driving and speeding.
