Maribyrnong’s Jane Clifton is a woman of many talents.
An acclaimed writer and actor, she’s also a marriage celebrant – but its music and singing that remain her great love.
Next week, Clifton will hit the stage for a one-night-only celebration of jazz at the Footscray Community Arts Centre.
She will perform alongside renowned tenor saxophonist Julien Wilson, a star of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
With Jex Saareladt on piano, Phillip Rex on bass, Sam Lemann on guitar and Michael Jordan on drums, all recognised as leading instrumentalists in their field, it promises to be one of the best jazz outfits Footscray has heard.
“Of all the things I do, singing is still the thing I love most,” Clifton said.
The program will also include a special premiere of Cracked, a new electro-acoustic/visual work by Duncan Foster, using manipulated sounds and images captured throughout a three-month renovation/construction of his street in Maidstone and featuring saxophonist Wilson.
The concert will be held on Saturday, August 2, from 7.30pm at Footscray Community Arts Centre, 45 Moreland Street, Footscray. Tickets cost $15 or $10 for concession. Bookings: 9362 8888
