Sunday’s National Tree Day will be marked at two major planting sites in Hobsons Bay.
About 150 Toyota workers will join Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek to plant more than 2500 indigenous trees and shrubs along Kororoit Creek. The planting is from 10am to 1pm behind Toyota’s Altona manufacturing plant. Since 2003, the partnership has resulted in more than 15,000 trees being planted along the creek corridor.
Hobsons Bay council is inviting people to help plant more than 3500 trees at Altona Coastal Park from 10am-1pm.
This year’s focus is to restore the natural habitat of the endangered Altona skipper butterfly.
Free trees will also be available at the EnviroCentre at Altona library from 3.30 to 4.30pm on Thursday.
