SHOW: An all-star performance at Yarraville

From comedian to singer, author to screenwriter, radio host to teacher, practical joker to political candidate, Tim Ferguson has always been a cheeky monkey.

He shot to fame in the late 1980s as a member of comedy outfit the Doug Anthony All Stars, a group of former buskers from Canberra.

Alongside fellow All Stars Paul McDermott and Richard Fidler, he regularly appeared on the ABC’s The Big Gig and quickly gained a cult following. Now, 20 years after they split, DAAS are back and will perform their only Victorian shows at the Yarraville Club next month.

While original member Richard Fidler is unable to join the reunion, Ferguson said he was looking forward to once again sharing a unique brand of improvisation and topical, sometimes controversial musical comedy.

“Performing with the All Stars has always been great fun,” he said. “Generally, we head out on to stage and start talking and we take it from there.”

The Doug Anthony All Stars will perform on August 21, 22 and 23 at the Yarraville Club. Tickets cost from $45.
