Altona drive goes awry
Golfers at Altona’s Kooringal Golf Club were shocked to find an abandoned car on the first hole on Monday morning, leading general manager Anthony White to quip it was a bad drive. Police believe the car lost control in Queen Street and crashed through the golf course fence shortly before 3am.
Medals back home in Seddon
World War II medals stolen from a Seddon home on July 17 have been returned. The home owner found his grandfather’s framed medals neatly placed on the front porch of his Junction Street house last Thursday. Items still outstanding from
the burglary include an antique
gold pocket watch, a photo album
and a 1960s Spider-Man comic
signed by Stan Lee.
Labor’s school pledge for west
Labor has pledged $300,000 for Bayside P-12 College at Williamstown if elected. The money would be used to upgrade the technology wing at the junior campus. Labor has also pledged, if elected, to grant $500,000 towards a creative and performing arts centre at Williamstown High School.
Gong for VU lecturer
Victoria University’s Dr Pandula Gamage, a lecturer in VU’s College of Business since 2008, has been named accounting/finance educator of the year at the annual Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand conference in Auckland.
