We were three points down when Fletcher Roberts marked the ball and the siren sounded on Sunday. But he’s a beautiful kick, and I wanted the ball in his hands.

It sailed through for a goal – a significant moment for Footscray’s VFL team. In our first year, we have secured second spot.
The achievement is made sweeter by the fact we will play a home final against our previous VFL-aligned team, Williamstown.
Playing for the Western Bulldogs, you hear a lot of stories about the old days at Whitten Oval.
This year, they’ve become real life experiences, with footy back at the ground.

Get down and support the boys in their finals quest before heading to Etihad Stadium for the Western Bulldogs’ last game, when we will send off one of the greats of our club, Daniel Giansiracusa.
Gia’s been one of the smartest, hard-working small forwards of our time. Any player who turns out 250-plus games for the club is a great.
I’d personally like to thank Gia for his service to
the club.
