Children at Newport’s Home Road Kindergarten donned yellow last Friday to support people affected by cancer.
Cancer Council Victoria spokeswoman Barbara Charan said the organisation’s annual Daffodil Day was about making a real difference by spreading hope.
“By donating to Cancer Council and wearing a daffodil pin, you’re helping fund vital cancer research, prevention programs and support services.”
As one of the first flowers of spring, the daffodil symbolises rebirth and new beginnings.
Kindergarten spokeswoman Kelly Turner said pupils dressed in yellow, played with yellow playdough and drew with yellow markers as they collected about $450 in donations.
“It’s just about promoting the awareness of the day, and also getting the children involved in a really interactive and fun way, because they love dressing up.”
