Stolen jewellery, family heirlooms found: Police seek owners

Police are seeking the owners of numerous pieces of jewellery and family heirlooms after arresting two suspected thieves with a bag full of allegedly stolen goods at Laverton last month.

Detectives from the Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit were doing a routine patrol about noon on July 30 when they saw a man and woman crouching over a bag.

The bag was found to contain dozens of pieces of jewellery, including watches, bracelets, necklaces, bangles, rings and earrings.

A Laverton man and woman, aged 42 and 48, respectively, have been charged with handling stolen goods.

They have been bailed appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on September 24 and November 3, respectively.
