Anahita, 9, was one of several budding authors who scored a special treat at Footscray’s 100 Story Building on Monday, enjoying a mentoring session with US novelist, publisher and screenwriter Dave Eggers.
The bestselling author of 11 novels dropped in to the children’s writing centre fresh from the Melbourne Writers Festival.
Eggers planted the seed for 100 Story Building during a talk he delivered at the 2007 festival.
100 Story Building founders Lachlann Carter and Jenna Williams, based it on San Francisco’s 826 Valencia, a similar centre started by Eggers and teacher Ninive Calegari.
The Footscray centre will celebrate its first anniversary this week.
