Maribyrnong Makers in Seddon spring fling

The Maribyrnong Makers Market will celebrate the arrival of spring this Saturday when 40 specially selected stalls come to Seddon.

Spotswood’s Kristy Tull will be one of the featured artisans, bringing her blossoming homewares label fox & ramona to the market. Tull specialises in concrete planters, bowls and vases recognisable for their triangular patterns.

“The organic nature of concrete means no two pieces are alike. Variations in the texture and finish are what makes your pot unique,” she says.

Tull began fox & ramona in 2011, originally creating resin and polymer clay jewellery. Her turn to concrete was spurred by a find in a junk store early this year along with her background work at an architectural firm.

“There I was surrounded by raw concrete, plywood, all natural materials,” she said.

The “shop local” advocate says she was drawn to the community spirit and handmade ethos of the community-based arts and craft Maribyrnong Makers Market.

The next market is open from 9.30am to 3.30pm this Saturday on the corner of Gamon and Mackay streets in Seddon. Entry is free. For more details visit www.maribyrnongmakersmarket.com.au.
