Maribyrnong: School holidays fun for all on offer

An action-packed line up of school holiday activities will be unleashed across Maribyrnong in the next fortnight.

Maribyrnong mayor Grant Miles said the Phoenix Youth Centre holiday program from September 22 to October 3 would offer volleyball, movies, art, bike riding, abseiling and hula hooping.

“Come along and try out new activities, make friends and break the boredom of the holidays,” he said.

The program is open to young people aged 12 to 25 who live in Maribyrnong.

Younger children will be treated to a range of free activities in local libraries.

“Wiggly worms will take over story time and a range of craft activities across our libraries will encourage little green thumbs to learn more about the garden,” Cr Miles said.

Highpoint shopping centre will also be home to two weeks of fun.

In the first week, there will be a colouring-in competition every day on level 1, where one lucky child will win their family a car to drive for six months.

In the second week, kids will be able to join DreamWorks stars Mr Peabody and Sherman in an around-the-world themed dance workshop at 11am and 1pm daily on level 2, outside Ted’s Cameras.
