Fine fare, and fun

Yarraville’s newest funky and fresh gastro pub is serving up an exciting menu from new head chef Leicester O’Loughlin and local favorite Kathy Georgiou.

The Hyde Street Hotel recently underwent an amazing six-month transformation that makes it a premium venue.

Mother and daughter team Loren Smith and Christine Day are at the helm of the new venture.

Both have extensive industry experience after owning and operating the Laurel Hotel in Ascot Vale for years.

“Hyde Street Hotel is a gastro pub with a little bit of everything, offering quality food, beverages and more than 16 different craft beers and ciders on tap,” Loren said.

“Our aim is to have the most tapped craft beers in the west. We also have an extensive and reasonably priced wine list.”

The venue has several distinct areas.

There’s the Hyde Street Kitchen, a dining area for up to 140 people with booth seating and two screened-off private dining areas; the Hyde Street Food and Wine Bar; and Hyde and Seek Lounge with its comfy couches, rugs, coffee tables and hand-made light fittings – a stunning place to host your next function or have a drink with friends.

The Public House, another separate area, has a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a bar meal, watch sport, play a game of pool or place a bet in the attached TAB.

Loren says the refurbished venue will be the place to visit during this year’s Spring Racing Carnival.

Hyde Street Hotel is now accepting bookings for Christmas functions and Christmas lunch.

The hotel offers a variety of areas and options for all types of functions, including corporate gatherings, engagement and birthday parties – anything worth celebrating, in fact. A delicious selection of sit-down and cocktail food options is available.

There are themed meal days. Wednesday’s lunch and dinner offer covers $20 burgers, including wagyu beef, chicken, BLT and vegie. On Thursdays grab a quality, $20 porterhouse steak, with interactive trivia session quizzame firing up in the front bar from 7pm.

The Hyde Street Food and Wine Bar has a rocking, happy hour every Friday from 5.30pm with drink specials, $10 house-made pizzas and live music by resident performer Davy Simony and other local acts.

Hyde Street Hotel, 188 Hyde Street, Yarraville, is open from 10.30am-late Monday-Friday, 10am-late Saturday and 10.30am-late Sunday.
