Williamstown Wine and Cheese Fest’s wine stomp comp: Entrants sought

Entrants are being sought for the Williamstown Wine and Cheese Fest’s wine stomp comp, with the goal to produce as much grape juice as possible and look good while doing it.

Organiser Sash Boseovski said the inaugural festival on October 12 was expected to attract about 5000 people, with more than half the tickets already sold.

“Highlights of the event include more than 40 wineries and cheese and smallgoods exhibitors, live music with jazz bands and cheese-making classes,” he said.

“Great local restaurants participating include Squires Loft, George Calombaris’ Hellenic Republic, Atomic Bar and Customs House Hotel.

‘‘There will also be an outdoor area with a lawn and games.”

Mr Boseovski said the wine stomp comp would have eight heats, with winners advancing to the finals.

The festival coincides with Dog Day in Dog Town, an annual event for canine lovers at nearby Commonwealth Reserve.

People interested in competing in the grape stomping contest should send their name, email address and mobile phone number to info@wineandcheesefest.com.au.

The festival is at Seaworks, 82 Nelson Place, Williamstown from 11am-6pm. For more details, visit www.wineandcheesefest.com.au
