Paid parking protest

Residents and traders opposed to Maribyrnong council’s proposed roll-out of paid parking will march

from Yarraville to Seddon from 10am this Saturday. More than 1300 people have completed an independent survey of parking and shopping habits of visitors ahead of the council’s decision on the proposal next Tuesday night.

Company fined over container

A Williamstown North company and its director have been ordered to pay $27,000 after refusing to move a shipping container. Hobsons Bay council obtained an enforcement order requiring the removal of a container blocking three parking spaces. The case proceeded to the Sunshine Magistrates Court when the order was ignored. The company director was twice arrested for failing to appear before being found guilty, fined and receiving a conviction.

Maribyrnong council will mark National Ride to Work Day next Wednesday

with a free breakfast on the Footscray side of Shepherd Bridge from 7.30am.

The event will include free bicycle safety checks.

Kids given write of way
