Somers Parade Kindergarten in Altona will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sunday.
Teacher Liz Ryan says anyone who attended the kindergarten will be welcome to attend or share photos and memorabilia.
“We’re excited to show everybody what the kinder is like today,” she said. “We’ve received lots of pictures from past students, some from as early as 1964, the year the kinder opened.”
Event co-ordinator and parent committee member Anita Mason urged people to attend and see the children’s artwork.
“We’ll have a sausage sizzle, a magician and face painters for the children,” she said.
She said art teacher and kinder mum Julie Farmer had painted a beautiful mural to celebrate the event using handprints from all the present students.
The celebration is noon-3pm at 4 Somers Parade, Altona. Speeches, cake-cutting and unveiling of a plaque will happen at 1.30pm.
