Unpaid traffic fines top $60m Victoria Sheriff Brendan Facey has revealed there is more than
$60 million in unpaid traffic fines across Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay. There are 18,761 people with 95,086 outstanding warrants totalling $32.6 million in Maribyrnong. In Hobsons Bay, 13,422 people had 79,372 warrants totalling $28.2 million.
A Footscray celebration
Community group Heaven On Earth is holding a night of celebrations at Heatley Reserve, Footscray, from 5.30-7.30pm this Saturday. The event will celebrate the various cultures in the Eldridge and Empire streets neighbourhood, with activities including dancing and games.
Hobsons Bay’s top citizens
Nominations are open for the Hobsons Bay citizen and young citizen of the year awards. Two residents who have made an outstanding contribution to community service, sport, arts and culture, the environment or business and economic development will be awarded on Australia Day, 2015. More doctors at Western Health Health Minister David Davis has released data showing 110 new doctors have been employed at Western Health under the present government. Mr Davis said that since June, 2010, the number of doctors employed at Western Health had grown to more than 570.
