Leading from the front, Camberwell captain/coach Brendan Drew was a standout on the weekend, guiding his side to its first win of the season.
Now into his third season at the Magpies, the former Tasmanian all-rounder broke through for his maiden Premier Cricket century against Geelong on Saturday, smashing an unbeaten 131 off just 103 balls including 10 fours and eight massive sixes.
He guided his side from 4/99 to a winning position of 6/293.
Backing it up in the field, Drew also claimed 1/16 from 4.2 overs, took a catch and snared a run-out.

What did you think of your performance?
It’s good personally to get that maiden hundred for the club, obviously it’s taken a little longer than I would have liked but I feel like I’ve started the year well and hopefully it sets me up for a good season.
Who do you rate highest in your team and why?
I think Tom Russ is one to watch this year. He’s our youngest player and he’s been doing some work with Cricket Victoria on his spin bowling, but we really rate his batting as well. He’s batted at four for us the last year or so and I think he’s set for a big summer.
Who is the best player in premier cricket (outside of your team)?
Looking at his numbers last year you can’t go past James Miller (Prahran), but Andrew Kent (Melbourne) was very good against us last week. He’s been very good for a long time, not only with the bat but also as a leader. You get the most out of him on a consistent basis.
What’s the best sledge you’ve ever heard?
There’s not much sledging these days, pretty quiet out there. I’ve got nothing good compared to all the great stories from back in the Merv Hughes days.
Who puts the best spread on at the tea break and why?
We got pretty well looked after out at Dandenong last year so I don’t think the boys are too upset about an away game there this week. There’s a good variety there, and they whipped up some cakes for us which is always nice, a bigger spread than usual.
