Anyone having trouble hearing the numbers read out at bingo, or their child calling their name, knows how frustrating hearing loss can be.
Active Audiology in Altona can help.
“Active Audiology is a hearing clinic that provides the best hearing results for anyone with hearing concerns,” director Cris Ivanidis says.
“Unlike the majority of clinics in Australia, we are not owned by a hearing device brand but are independent and therefore give unbiased advice.”
The audiologist says he’s changed the lives of hundreds of Melbourne people experiencing hearing loss in the past 15 years.
He explains that the clinic’s role is about much more than simply fitting devices.
“Our job is to get to know the client and their lifestyle, listening to their needs to enable us to achieve the best hearing outcomes for them,” he said.
The team at Active Audiology performs hearing tests for children above four years old and adults, and provides hearing device fittings and adjustments. Customised plugs for musicians and noise reduction are another service.
“We’re small enough to know most of our clients on a first-name basis but large enough to provide a reliable and professional service that includes a
big range of hearing device brands,” Cris says.
“Only one in five hearing clinics in Australia are owned independently like us. We have no commercial alliances with hearing device brands. The rest are owned by hearing device brands
and therefore only prescribe the one brand to clients. It’s like going to a GP clinic owned by a pharmaceutical company.”
Active Audiology in Altona has a team of qualified audiologists who grew up locally and who between them speak English, Cantonese and Greek.
“Whether our clients hearing device is causing them frustration or they want to investigate hearing loss, we get results,” Cris says.
