Tributes to veterans of war are popping up at Australian Croatia Community Services in Footscray.
Community group co-ordinator Senada Ekic said the group had been working on a poppy-themed tribute to the Anzacs to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing in World War I.
“We’ve been working on these poppies as part of the 5000 poppies to be displayed in Federation Square,” she said.
“They are all handmade – we are knitting them out of yarn, and we’re very proud of them.”
