A driver has been freed in a marathon rescue effort after his car was wedged between two trucks and crushed under one of them in a collision on the Princes Freeway at Point Cook.
The man, who was trapped for more than three hours, has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman Trevor Woodward said the fact the man had survived the crash was extraordinary.
“That’s a very lucky fella,” he said.
