An interactive show that gives children an on-water adventure is coming to the Maribyrnong River on Sunday.
Inspired by a stage play, Marlin Expedition lets children join a fisherman’s crew on its mission to save a marlin’s life, venturing along the Maribyrnong River and assisting him to navigate through the water.
As the children work together with the fisherman, more will be revealed about his mysterious stories out on the sea.
The free expedition aims to bring children much closer to the theatrical experience and provide different ways to access story-telling, says co director Jolyon James.
“We wanted to take the idea from a stage show where children sit in an audience and then put them closer to the story by placing them in a boat with an actor, where the rules are unclear and the children are more actively engaged,” he said.
The show’s activities will open up the minds of the children to an adventurous journey, says artistic director of Arena and director of the show, Christian Leavesley.
“There are some twists and turns and a lot of the kids will not be sure what’s real and what is part of the show.”
Marlin Expedition is at the Footscray Community Arts Centre, November 30, every 30 minutes between 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-3pm.
There is a maximum of three people per boat, per session. Book on 9329 6266.
