Maribyrnong set for Australia Day party at Coulson Gardens

Maribyrnong city council will host Australia Day celebrations on Monday, January 26, at the Coulson Gardens.

Mayor Nam Quach has invited residents to join him on the banks of the Maribyrnong River to celebrate with entertainment and activities to keep kids entertained.

“Australia Day is where we award those in our community who have selflessly made Maribyrnong a better place to live, and welcome many more new citizens into the city,” Cr Quach said.

“Please join us at the lovely Coulson Gardens along the Maribyrnong River for a fun family day of celebration and make this year’s Australia Day a day to remember.”

At the free event, entertainment will be provided by Ausdance, Raw Elements and the Footscray Yarraville City Band.

The 2015 civic awards winners will be honoured during the event for their roles within the community.

The awards will be presented in the categories of young citizen of the year (up to 25 years), volunteer of the year, community group of the year (non-profit), emerging community’s award, citizen of the year and a mayoral award.

Australia Day ambassador John Blackman will be a guest at the celebrations.
