Altona’s Nikita Azzopardi will sing the national anthem in Logan Reserve on Australia Day before kicking off the Hobsons Bay Summer Sounds music series.
The 18-year-old singer, songwriter and pianist will take to the main stage on Monday at 12.30pm.
On February 7, she returns to Altona’s Logan Reserve for the first Summer Sounds concert also featuring Kylie Auldist & the Glenroy Allstars.
After these live shows, Azzopardi plans to take a break to record her debut EP for release this year. She will post regular updates on the “Nikita Azzopardi official” Facebook page.
As part of the annual Summer Sounds music series, a concert will be held for the first time at Trafalgar Reserve (aka Altona Meadows Community Park) on February 15, featuring the Hobsons Bay Band and new country roots trio The Good Earth.
Other acts include Ms Murphy and Chris Wilson performing in Altona on February 21.
Williamstown’s Commonwealth Reserve will host the Pierce Brothers and Gena Rose Bruce on February 14 and the Liz Stringer band and Suzannah Espie & the Last Word on February 28. All concerts are free and run from 2pm-5pm.
