Sounds of summer

Trombone player Barry Rowe (pictured) will perform with Hobsons Bay City Band in a new event on the Summer Sounds calendar.

For the first year, a concert will be held at Altona Meadows Community Park (Trafalgar Park) from 2-5pm on Sunday, February 15.

The band, of woodwind, brass and percussion, will perform a range of classics in a concert dubbed

Summer Sounds: In Your Neighbourhood.

Band members range in age from 15 to
92, and they’re always looking for new members.

Also on the bill is new country roots music trio The Good Earth, featuring Newport Fiddle and Folk Club members Michaela Mee, Bruce Williams and Michael Stewart.

Other concerts being held as part of Summer Sounds include Ms Murphy and Chris Wilson performing at Altona’s Logan Reserve on February 21.

Williamstown’s Commonwealth Reserve will host the Pierce Brothers and Gena Rose Bruce on February 14 and Liz Stringer and Suzannah Espie on February 28.

All concerts are free.
