Hear, hear to good advice

Receiving unbiased advice, that is not commercially driven, from professionals in the hearing industry can be difficult, director of Active Audiology in Altona, Cris Ivanidis says. But the staff at his clinic provide exactly that.

“Active Audiology is an independent hearing clinic that provides the best results for anyone with hearing concerns,” Cris says.

“Up to 80 per cent of hearing clinics are owned by the manufacturer themselves, who control which hearing device brand is prescribed to the patient. But at Active Audiology we will service and provide any device brand.”

The audiologist and his team, including Julia, Ruth and Bernie, work closely with patients to determine which hearing technology works best for them.

“Patients often inquire about multiple brands before making their final choice. We provide them this opportunity to make an informed decision based on a clinical perspective, not a commercial one,” Cris says.

He says he has changed the lives of hundreds of Melbourne people experiencing hearing loss in the past 15 years.

“We’ve seen thousands of clients in Hobsons Bay and understand the way life changes when a person has difficulty hearing,” he says.

“Our job is to get to know clients and their lifestyles and listen to their needs to enable us to achieve the best hearing outcomes for them.”

The team at Active Audiology performs hearing tests for children above four years old and adults, visits nursing homes and provides hearing device fittings and adjustments. Customised plugs for musicians and noise reduction are also available.

“We’re small enough to know most of our clients on a first-name basis but large enough to provide a reliable and professional service that includes a big range of hearing device brands,” Cris says.

Active Audiology in Altona has a team of qualified audiologists who grew up locally and who, between them, speak English, Cantonese and Greek.

“Whether our clients hearing device is causing them frustration or they want to investigate hearing loss, we get results,” Cris says.

Active Audiology, 10 Harrington Square Altona. Opens 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Inquiries: 9398 3331
