Help to plan the best farewell

Dealing with grief as well as making funeral arrangements can add to the stress at a time people least need it.

A friendly face, some gentle advice and a helping hand are sometimes all that is needed to prevent becoming overwhelmed by the choices families have to make.

Phillip and Bronwyn Aspinall, the directors of Candlepines Undertakers of Distinction, believe having the same person making the arrangements also conducting the funeral ensures everything is less stressful for families.

“With more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, we understand the toll it takes on people and we understand how important your wishes are,” Bronwyn says.

Candlepines has cared for hundreds of families in the western suburbs.

Their passion and keen eye for detail ensures that all the many fine details of funeral arrangements are covered.

“The difference with us is we actually live in the area and are a close-knit team of family members, who are genuinely interested only in providing to families the respect and dignity they need for their loved one at a very affordable and sensible price,” Phillip says.

Daughter Clare Aspinall has been aware of death and dying since she was a baby, so it was natural for her to eventually join her parents’ business as family services co-ordinator.

Embalmer Charles Thomas is the newest member of the team and is highly regarded for his excellent qualifications and experience in mortuary work.

Candlepines volunteers Sue Redfern, Amee Sheridan and Alan Scott help with funerals and also visit nursing homes, community groups and clubs.

The experienced team can organise religious and non-religious ceremonies (in non-religious ceremonies a Candlepines celebrant can be provided free of charge).

An extensive range of stationery is offered, dove releases can be arranged, memorial photo collages and professional DVD presentations are organised.

For services in the Candlelight Chapel, refreshments can also be prepared.

Operating from new, purpose-designed premises, Candlepines Undertakers of Distinction is building on its distinguished reputation for five-star service and three decades of helping people plan funerals and farewell their loved ones.

Candlepines Undertakers of Distinction, 2/132 Maddox Road, Williamstown North. Opens 8.30am-4.30pm; 24-hour funeral calls. Inquiries: 9369 4919 or
